Arabian Radio Network’s Hindi language service is the youngest child of the Arabian Radio Network being launched on May 12, 2002.

As the first Asian FM (Hindi/Urdu) station to broadcast from Dubai, City aims to be the ‘heartbeat' of all Asians residing in the UAE (the tagline of the station is ‘Dil Ki Dhadkan’).

City received an overwhelming response from listeners in the first two days of its launch from all over the UAE receiving 2,500 phone calls, 1,800 faxes, and more than 1,000 e-mails.

In the absence of concrete listener research in this market, the whole City FM team took to the streets of Dubai to talk to people, collect information and collate introductory research on the listening habits of FM listeners. Over a period of 5 weeks 1,200 people from Dubai and the Northern Emirates were interviewed and the research revealed the kind of music, programmes, information and news that the majority of the UAE’s Asian audience wanted.

This has since been reflected in the programming developed by City. City FM offers a host of the usual and unusual found on most popular commercial stations: news, traffic, weather, forex, stock market updates, flight delays as well as details of the late night pharmacies to name but a few.

Being part of the huge Arabian Radio Network gives City FM the edge over its competitors and the sponsors an advantage of a wider listener base.

It is also the only Hindi station to broadcast from Dubai, giving the large Asian community living in this exciting 'City' their own home station.
